Our research focus is to establish the molecular identity of mitochondrial ion channels, elucidate their targeting mechanism and study their biophysical properties. At functional level we focus on how mitochondrial ion channels regulate cellular physiology by altering the mitochondrial properties. To understand their role in health and disease, our group is focused on their role in cardioprotection from ischemia-reperfusion injury and functional role in the aging heart.
